An AVALANCHE is incredibly powerful and takes everything in its path.

Once it begins, it cannot be stopped.

This January atAVALANCHE Winter Retreat, our goal is to activate the power of the Holy Spirit in the lives of your students! Allowing them to have the same incredible power to live their lives for Jesus, they will take those their path for His Kingdom. Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.” Join us and allow God to start an AVALANCHE in your students, youth ministry, church, community, and the world; picking up many lost souls along the way.


Come and join us for one of three AVALANCHE Winter Retreat weekends as we believe God will do amazing things and impact students for a lifetime!  We are believing God for an outpouring of His Spirit to fall upon the students and leaders of PennDel. I appreciate your ministry as well as your heart for students and look forward to the opportunity to share in this time with you.  Let’s pray together, for once it begins, it can’t be stopped!

Group Leader Instructions

Please read this Information carefully.  To register your group, complete the Group Roster and mail with a deposit, all completed Parental Release forms, and chaperone clearances to Winter Retreat, 4651 Westport Drive, Mechanicsburg PA 17055. Space for each weekend is limited and will be filled on a first come first served basis. Winter Retreat weekends can and DO sell out, so register early!


All Winter Retreats are held at the Bongiorno Conference Center, 430 Union Hall Rd, Carlisle, PA.

Location and Dates

All Winter Retreats are held at the Bongiorno Conference Center, 430 Union Hall Rd, Carlisle, PA.
There are three Winter Retreats available to choose from.  You may make your choice by which weekend fits best into your church’s schedule, or by which evangelist you prefer.  Be sure to indicate your preference on the enclosed preregistration form!  
The dates are January 13-15, January 20-22, and January 27-29.

Who May Attend

All youth currently enrolled in grades 712. (Do not bring children under the age of 12 or infants.)

Total Cost

$119 per person (group registration) $219 per person (individual). Cost includes: Accommodations (2 nights), food (five meals), and retreat events. $69 (group)/ $119 (individual) per person is due with the preregistration form and is non-refundable.  The balance of $50 (group)/ $100 (individual) per person is due at the retreat.

What To Bring

Bible and notebook, bedding, towels, personal items, and warm clothing. Dress will be casual the entire weekend.  Be prepared for cold weather!

What Not To Bring

electronics (iPod, iPad, hand held games, etc.) skateboards, firearms, fireworks, candles, tobacco, narcotics, alcohol, etc. Students are prohibited from bringing cell phones. 

Arrival Time

6:00 p.m. Friday.  Registration is from 67:15 p.m. Please do not be late.

Departure Time

Sunday at 12:30 p.m. following lunch.

Free Time

Saturday afternoon will be open for a variety of activities, both structured and unstructured.  Available on the Conference Center grounds are:  basketball, volleyball, football, and a variety of other indoor and outdoor activities. 

Pre-registration Instructions

All groups must preregister for the retreat. Please fill out and return the enclosed “Group PreRegistration Form” at your earliest convenience (weeks 2 and 3 usually sell out). Preregistrations will be handled on a firstcome/firstserved basis.  All forms must be complete and must indicate which weekend your group desires to attend.  Be sure to enclose a non-refundable deposit in the amount of $69 (Group)/ $119 (individual) per person, made payable to the PennDel District.


You will receive a confirmation via email following the processing of your online or mailed in Registration.


Although there is no specific deadline, it is to your advantage to preregister as soon as possible as we anticipate all retreats to sell out.  Preregistration will be accepted until our maximum number is filled for each weekend. Feel free to call the Youth Ministries office at 717.795.5921 to check on availability for the weekend of your choice.


It is the responsibility of each group registering to provide adequate chaperones for their teens.  Each group MUST register one male chaperone, at least 20 yrs. old, for every 1-10 men they register, and one female chaperone at least 20 yrs. old, for every 1-10 women they register. At least one male and one female chaperone must accompany each group, regardless of group size.  Preregistrations received without the adequate number of chaperones will be charged the individual rate.  It is our desire to house church groups together when attending retreats.  Due to the configuration of the housing units, at times it is necessary to house churches in multiple rooms and buildings and we reserve the right to do so.  


In compliance with House Bill 435, our office will now require the following three items for every chaperone who will attend with your group. These reports may take several weeks to receive, so please recruit your chaperones as early as possible. Please submit copies of these completed clearances with your registration packet:
1. PA State Police Criminal Background Check
2. PA Department of Human Services Child Abuse Clearance
3. FBI Criminal History & Fingerprinting OR a signed affidavit affirming chaperone is not disqualified from service 
(Visit to determine which chaperones need the FBI reporting.) 
Chaperones will not be permitted to stay on campus without these clearances on file. If you need help or have any questions about the new clearance law please contact us! 

Medical Release

All chaperones sent by churches are responsible for the students under their care.  Therefore, it is suggested that copies be made of the medical release form we have provided and be filled out and signed by each student’s parent. Make copies of these forms and leave a set at your church and bring a set with you to keep in your possession during the event.  The originals MUST be mailed to PDYM with your church registration. Your online registration is not complete until these forms are received.

Extra Money

Those attending the retreat may want to bring extra money for offerings, late night snack bar, bookstore, etc.
