It takes hundreds of volunteers each year to make Youth Convention a reality. We are looking for people who love this generation! These are guys and ladies who will link arms with us as we carry this message across Pennsylvania & Delaware.
Where would your gifts and talents be most effective? Take a look at the following opportunities that are available and choose where you believe the Lord wants to use you to serve as a Convention volunteer this year!
Ushers do a variety of jobs; from serving as our hospitality hosts to welcoming all guests, helping guests find their assigned section/seats, answering their questions or finding the answers if you do not know, receiving the offering and passing out all materials, along with crowd control. Ushers help make the overall event run smoothly and with limited distractions.
Merchandise Sales volunteers will help with set up and tear down all of the vendor booths and registration. They also help with the selling of all PennDel Youth Convention merchandise like t-shirt, books, CD’s & miscellaneous things. They may also work at a merchandise booth of our guest bands, communicators and PennDel Youth Ministries.
Security is responsible for checking wristbands at the doors and during the event, guarding the stage, and making sure nothing suspicious gets in the building or is done to the building.
As a Volunteer Registration/Office Staff member you may be called upon to help as a runner, separating pre-ordered t-shirts, information desk worker, set up and tear down, work at the registration booth, etc.
Volunteer check-in will be located at the Giant Center main entrance at 9:00am on Thursday, March 24. You will be assigned a task to complete during the morning and afternoon before returning for orientation. You will receive the rest of your required responsibilities and scheduled work times for the event at orientation.
Check In: 9:00am or 3:45pm
Orientation time: 4:00pm sharp
Doors Open at 6:00pm
It is VERY IMPORTANT that you are on time for all your scheduled times. Remember that transportation is your responsibility.
NOTE: If you are unable to arrive at 9:00am, please state so on your application and we will know not to expect you until 3:45pm. All volunteers must be checked in and ready for orientation by 4:00pm.
Directly following check-in at the Giant Center, all volunteers will be trained according to their assigned positions.
When you arrive on Friday, March 25th, at 8:00am, go directly to the volunteer check-in across from the registration room (Room 3/4). You will be given instructions for the day there.
Meals are your responsibility. We recommend that you eat dinner before coming to orientation on Thursday. You will have a break in the afternoon on Friday which will give you time to eat and relax before coming back for the evening service.
Wear nice jeans and comfortable shoes. Bring a coat since some of your duties may take place outside or near the front doors where it could be cold. At the volunteer check-in you will be given an Event Crew T-Shirt to wear during the event. Please plan to wear this T-Shirt both days of the event. To help keep your Crew shirt clean you could wear a t-shirt underneath if you want. However, you may not wear a sweater, jacket, sweat shirt or any other garment over your Crew shirt while on duty unless your position requires you to perform a task outside.
We suggest that you do not bring valuable personal property with you while working. We cannot be responsible for lost or stolen articles. You should lock all valuables (including purses and backpacks) in your vehicle before entering the Giant Center. DO NOT wear a Bluetooth or any head phones for music at any time in the Giant Center while you’re on duty.
You will be contacted by the Convention Volunteer Coordinator via email to give you parking instructions.
We invite volunteers! All volunteers must be at least 18 years old. If you know a friend or a group of friends that would like to volunteer, please direct them to www.penndelyouth.com or give them a copy of this info and the Volunteer Application and have them sign up.
We ask that you please do not bring any children to the event while you are volunteering. You may, however, purchase a ticket for your child to watch the event if they are old enough to be unsupervised. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children under the age of 5 can attend the Convention for free if accompanied by an adult not serving as a volunteer.
A volunteer’s probability of seeing the Youth Convention session will be dependent on the fulfillment of the volunteer numbers needed for the event. Most volunteers will be in the arena during each service, but may be too busy to see all of the service. Volunteer Staff members should keep their focus on their station.
Please contact Simon Wellman at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
