Fine Arts is a discipleship tool of national youth ministries designed to “help students discover and develop their ministry gifts.”

Beginning in September each year, over 70,000 junior and senior high school students begin preparing their entries for the Sectional, District, and National Fine Arts Festivals. Students may enter categories offered in 7 main divisions: Art, Communication, Drama, Exhibition, Instrumental, Vocal, and Writing.

  • Sectional Festival
    • Festival – February 17th

    • Deadline to register – January 25th

    All creative writing, short film, mini-saga, and promo video must be sent by January 18th to be accepted for the festival.

  • District Festival
    • District Festival – March 28-30th 

    • Festival: Christian Life Assembly of God – 2645 Lisburn Rd, Camp Hill, PA 17011
    • Awards Ceremony: Giant Center – 550 W Hersheypark Dr Hershey, PA(Awards Celebration)

  • National Festival
    • National Festival – July 30th-August 3rd

2018 changes

Please consult the Fine Arts application for approved PennDel Categories. The PennDel Ministry Network encourages students in their ministry development and will only include Fine Arts Categories with Ministry Effectiveness as part of the evaluation criteria.

1. The following categories have had rule changes:

  • Songwriting – rules regarding accompaniment and lyric sheets
  • Songwriting, Modern Hymn – rules regarding accompaniment and lyric sheets
  • Art – rules regarding framing
  • Dance – rules regarding apparel and presentation time limits
  • Writing and Film Categories – delivery instructions have changed
  • Flash Fiction – new word count rule
  • American Sign Language categories – new presentation rule.

2. For NATIONAL FINE ARTS ONLY!  Submission guidelines have been changed for writing and film categories. We no longer use a pre-festival upload system. All writing and film entries for the NFAF must be hand-delivered to the Art/Film/Writing check-in booth by the student or a representative of the student following the completion of on-site check in on Monday, July 30, 2018, between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. For more information on the number of entries for each category please see the individual category rules.


3. There has been a name change to First Person Essay. It is now called Creative Fiction/Memoir.
